SURF CULT 09 is a celebration of the local surf culture featuring surfing competitions, beach activities, a visual arts exhibition, a film evening, poems & pints evening and other arts activities.

The Active Young People's Department are organising all of the beach activities and The Arts Service are co-ordinating the Arts Activities at The Grand Pavilion.

The main focus of the arts activities is the visual arts exhibition in the main hall called SEASCAPE with the theme being Costal History.

This year the exhibition will feature the work of local photographers Pete Bounds, Peter Britton, Peter Price & Dan Wood. Film and audio installations featuring amongst others pieces such as the fictional/factual documentary ‘Surf Quest' (make up your own mind) will also form part of the over all experience.

There will be also be smaller exhibitions in the following rooms:

Café Bar featuring the work of photographer Aled Rhys & Welsh language poet Iwan Llwyd and 'Surffitti' by Emma Lamport. The Stage Door will play host to multi media paintings by Sue Paton, Lesley Dearn & Pauline Williams along side work that have been created in community workshops leading up to the festival.

Surf Cult takes place from Wednesday the 2nd right through to Saturday the 20th of September. This is a Bridgend County Borough Council Arts and Culture Service initiative.
